In light of the recent Coronavirus Pandemic, the FAA has permitted airmen to continue flying with expired medical certificates thru 30 June 2020. This ONLY applies to airmen who were current as of 1 Mar 2020. And if an airman experiences symptoms of a new medical condition, they must still seek medical attention and not continue flying. A memo has been circulating to both airmen and Aviation Medical Examiners (AME) providing the details.A separate post on the COVID19 Pandemic can be found here.This is what it says:COVID19 AME Memo"Valid medical certificates of any class, that expire in March or April can go to 30 June. Including SI, AASI, etc but they will need to provide the missing data in July. You may continue to see Pilots or assist them to understand the extension. All components of the AME exam can be done without outside referral to other facilities, if you have the necessary approved equipment.Per the Office of Aviation Safety (AVS) Air Transportation Division, AFS-200: on 25 March the FAA granted regulatory relief by issuing four exemptions for Part 121, regularly scheduled carriers, and Part 135, non-scheduled operators, air carriers/operations regarding Advanced Qualification Programs (APQ). This includes:o Limited relief from Part 121 regulations pertaining to the timeframes for completing recurrent training and qualification requirements for ground personnel, crewmembers (includes pilots, flight attendants, flight engineers, check pilots, check flight engineers, and Part 121 flight instructors) and aircraft dispatchers;o Limited relief from Part 135 regulations pertaining to the timeframes for completing recurrent training and qualification requirements for ground personnel and crewmembers (includes pilots, flight attendants, check pilots and Part 135 flight instructors);o Limited relief from Part 121 regulations to allow certificate holders to use alternative methods to conduct certain required crewmember emergency procedures during recurrent and upgrade training, checking, and evaluation, and;o Limited relief from Part 135 regulations to allow certificate holders to use alternative methods to conduct certain required crewmember emergency procedures during recurrent and upgrade training, testing and checking."
