Wilderness Medicine is not officially a subset of Aerospace Medicine, but similarities abound. Both focus on normal healthy patients in abnormal environments and unique medical conditions in austere or extreme settings.

FELLOW OF ACADEMY OF WILDERNESS MEDICINE (FAWM)
The Wilderness Medical Society (WMS) began offering the FAWM in 2007 for a more flexible, self-guided curriculum. One must accumulate 100 credits in Required Topics, Electives, and Experience.
