Any pilot prides him/herself on being able to competently perform complex tasks in the most stressful and high stakes environments. This capacity comes from pre-screening for particular personality traits combined with years of intentional training. That said, pilots and other specialized aircrew remain human beings with the same fallibility and weaknesses of any other person. There are always breaking points. And to compound the challenges faced by aircrew, any admission of mental health struggles are often partnered to real or imagined risks to their careers.

In this section of GFM, we will focus on research, advice, and other pro tips to inform pilots and others who work in stressful environments how to maintain their sanity.
